Eleven pilots, ten upgradeable HAR mechs, a tournament mode with money and stat upgrades, and a soundtrack people still track down today. Declared freeware in 1999, so the full game is hosted here.

How it works & what to expect
This is the original DOS release (a DOS4GW protected-mode game) running in WebAssembly DOSBox. It's the largest payload we host at ~6 MB, so first boot takes a few seconds; after that it's cached. Tournament mode is the heart of the game — win matches, buy upgrades, and rebuild your pilot between fights.
Playing tips
Tournament mode is the heart of the game: win matches, buy upgrades, and rebuild your pilot between fights. Specials use quarter-circle and charge motions, exactly as you'd expect from the era, and everything is rebindable in the in-game Setup menu.
Why it's free
Diversions Entertainment declared One Must Fall: 2097 freeware in February 1999, and it has been freely distributed ever since. The sequel, One Must Fall: Battlegrounds, remains commercial.
Frequently asked questions
Is One Must Fall 2097 legal to play here?
Yes. Diversions Entertainment declared it freeware in 1999, so the complete game is legal to host, play and share.
What are the controls?
Arrows move and jump; Ctrl, Alt and Space attack. Specials use quarter-circle and charge motions. You can rebind everything in the in-game setup menu.
Does my progress save?
Yes — tournament progress and saved pilots persist in this browser between visits, best-effort. Clearing site data resets them.
Why does it take longer to load than other games?
It's our biggest payload at about 6 MB because OMF ships a lot of animation data. First boot fetches it once, then it's cached.
Can I play on a phone?
There's a touch d-pad with three attack buttons, though a fighting game genuinely plays better on a keyboard.
