This is an original game, not Tetris. Tetris is a registered trademark of The Tetris Company, and this isn't it — Block Drop was written from scratch for ExeBrowser with its own name, code and presentation. The rules of a falling-block puzzle aren't anyone's property; the Tetris name is, so we don't use it.
How to play Block Drop
Seven shapes fall one at a time into a well ten columns wide. Move and rotate each one as it falls, and complete a horizontal row to clear it — everything above drops down to fill the gap. The game ends when a new piece has no room to appear.
Scoring
One row scores 100, two 300, three 500, and four at once 800 — all multiplied by your level. Because the jump from one row to four is so steep, deliberately stacking nine columns and saving the tenth for a long piece is worth far more than clearing rows as they come.
The ghost and the next piece
A faint outline shows exactly where the current piece will land, and the panel on the right shows what's coming. Between them you can plan two pieces ahead rather than reacting.
Speed
Every ten lines raises the level and the pieces fall faster. The soft drop stops being useful and hard drops become the only way to keep up.
Strategy that actually helps
- Keep the stack flat. A flat surface accepts any shape; a jagged one only accepts a few.
- Leave one column open. Nine flat columns and one open well is the setup for a four-row clear.
- Don't bury a gap. A covered hole costs you every row above it — clear down to it before it gets deep.
- Use the next-piece panel. Place the current piece where it leaves the best home for the one you already know is coming.
- Hard-drop when you're sure. It scores more and buys you time at high levels.

Is this a Tetris clone?
No. Block Drop is an original falling-block puzzle written from scratch for ExeBrowser, with its own name, code, colours and presentation. The rules of a falling-block game are not copyrightable, but the well-known brand name in this genre is a registered trademark of its owner, so we do not use it and this game is not affiliated with or derived from that product.
How does scoring work?
Clearing one row scores 100, two rows 300, three 500 and four at once 800 — all multiplied by your level. Stacking up for a four-row clear is worth far more than clearing rows one at a time. Hard-dropping also scores two points per row fallen.
What is the ghost piece?
The faint outline at the bottom of the well showing exactly where the current piece will land if you drop it. It makes placement precise without slowing you down.
Why do the pieces come in a repeating pattern?
Pieces are drawn from a shuffled bag of all seven shapes, refilled when empty. That guarantees you never go a long stretch without the piece you need — the standard fix for the frustration of purely random selection.
Do I need to download or sign up for anything?
No. The game runs directly in your browser as plain JavaScript — no emulator, no download, no account, and nothing is uploaded.
