Play Pipe Panic online — free, instant Runs natively — no emulator
Pipe Panic is a pipe-laying puzzle, playable right now — no download, no sign-up, nothing to install. Lay pipe from a queue you can see but can't reorder, and keep ahead of water that starts flowing whether you're ready or not. Get the flow through enough pipes to clear the level, then keep laying — the level runs until the water stops, and every pipe past the target is worth bonus points.
Your game saves itself — close the tab and open this page again to pick up exactly where you left off.
Controls — what does what
| Action | How |
|---|---|
| Lay a pipe | Click a square — it uses the next piece in the queue. |
| Replace a pipe | Click one the water hasn't reached. Free — you only lose the piece. |
| Start early | Start flow skips the countdown and pays a bonus for the time you gave up. |
| New game | New game back to level 1. |
This is an original game. Laying pipe ahead of a flow goes back to Pipe Mania (1989) and the Windows Entertainment Pack build many people remember. Those are proprietary products; the idea isn't, and game rules aren't copyrightable. Pipe Panic was written from scratch for ExeBrowser with its own name, code and art, and isn't a clone of any particular product.
How to play
The green dot is the source. After a countdown — shown as a bar along the bottom of the board — water starts there and moves one square at a time, following whatever openings it finds.
The queue is the game
You don't choose your pieces. Five are visible; you place the first, and a new one joins the back. Getting a straight when you needed a corner is not bad luck, it's the puzzle — the skill is building a route that can absorb whatever arrives.
Building ahead
You can lay pipe anywhere, including squares the water will never reach. Dumping an unusable piece somewhere harmless is a legitimate move and often the right one.
Replacing
Any pipe the water hasn't reached can be overwritten for free — you just lose the piece you spend doing it. Once a square is wet it's locked, so mistakes ahead of the flow are recoverable and mistakes behind it are not.
Strategy that actually helps
- Build a long loop, not a short line. You need a set number of pipes flowed, not a route to anywhere in particular — winding is the point.
- Keep one square of slack ahead of the water. Building right at the flow leaves no room to react to a bad piece.
- Place crosses early. A four-way piece works from any direction, and the water can run through it twice — once on each axis — scoring both times. It's the most valuable thing to have already on the board.
- Watch the queue, not just the head. If two corners are coming, plan the turn now.
- Use the countdown. The bar is real building time — spend all of it before hitting Start flow.
Frequently asked questions
How do you play a pipe-laying puzzle?
Water starts at the source after a short countdown and travels one square at a time through whatever pipe you have laid. You place pieces from a queue — you can see what's coming but not reorder it — and you need the flow to reach a set number of pipes before it runs into a dead end. Get past that number and you keep scoring for every extra pipe.
Can I change a pipe after placing it?
Yes, as long as the water hasn't reached it, and it costs you nothing but the piece. Clicking an existing pipe replaces it with the next one from the queue. Once a square has water in it, it's fixed.
What happens if the water reaches a dead end?
The level ends there — but you still clear it if the water got through the number of pipes the level asked for. Falling short is what ends the game. That's the whole tension: you're always building slightly ahead of the flow, and a piece you can't use is a piece you have to dump somewhere harmless.
Does it get harder?
Each level needs a longer run of flowed pipe and gives you less time before the water starts, so you get less building time exactly when you need more.
Do I need to download or sign up for anything?
No. It runs directly in your browser as plain JavaScript — no emulator, no download, no account, and nothing is uploaded.
